The area

Saint-Martin-de-Castillon is a Luberon village near Apt, in the Calavon valley. On Saturday mornings, the Apt market, held since the 12th century, fills the old town; in season, the village has its own market on Thursday evenings. And close by, the ochre cliffs of the Colorado provençal at Rustrel, one- or two-hour loops on foot.

How much does a wedding at Château du Griffon cost?

From £47,000, all-inclusive, for about 100 guests: the venue, the table, the flowers, the music, your photos, and us on site. The exact price depends on your date and your guest count, and you get it in writing within a week.

Can the price change?

Once we’ve agreed, no. It only changes if you change the wedding: more or fewer guests, a wish added along the way.

What if one of our suppliers can’t make it?

We replace them. They’re our suppliers, under our contract, so the two of you have nothing to search for or renegotiate. You approve the choice, and we take care of the rest.

Can we insure our wedding?

Yes, if you wish. We can offer optional cancellation insurance dedicated to your wedding, placed with Lloyd’s. It covers cancelling or postponing for reasons beyond your control, including if one of you can’t be there, as set out in the policy terms.

What if we booked the château directly?

You can, it's a beautiful house. The château rents you its estate, its 60 beds and its furniture, and opens its address book. You then bring together the caterer, the drinks, the breakfasts, the decor, the DJ and the running of the weekend. With us, all of that is in your price, every choice stays yours, and the château keeps its own rate. You come to get married.

How many guests can we invite?

Up to 200 under the 300 m² tent and in the park, and 160 indoors in the château's hall. 60 of them sleep on site; at 60, everyone stays at the château.

Which dates are still free?

From April to October, the château offers two slots: midweek, Tuesday noon to Thursday morning, or the long weekend, Friday 3 pm to Monday 10 am. The rest of the year, it fits around your date. Tell us your date, we check with Château du Griffon and reply in writing.

Can we have a secular ceremony on site?

Yes, and it's often the best moment: under the three-hundred-year-old plane trees facing the Luberon, by the fountain of the old bastide or among the olive trees. Your words, your officiant, your people around you.

Can we have our civil wedding in Saint-Martin-de-Castillon?

In France, a civil wedding always takes place at a town hall, never at the château. Saint-Martin-de-Castillon town hall can marry you if one of you, or one of your parents, lives there or has lived there for at least a month. Otherwise, the civil wedding happens in your own town, and the ceremony at the château.

Our guests are flying in. Is it easy for them?

Yes: Avignon TGV station and Marseille Provence airport are each an hour away, and 60 of your guests sleep at the château, a few steps from the party. For the others, we share the best addresses around Apt.

How do our guests get back after the party?

60 of them only have a few steps to their room. For those staying in Apt or the villages around, we give you the addresses, ready to share with your loved ones.

Where do we get ready?

At the château. One of you in the bridal suite, on the ground floor, renovated in 2025: a double shower, a dressing room and a private terrace facing the Luberon. The other in another of the château's bedrooms, your people close by.

And the children, and the grandparents?

Everyone finds their place. The château provides cots, changing tables and high chairs, and a nanny from its partners looks after the children during the party. On the ground floor, four bedrooms, ideal for the grandparents. And dogs are welcome.

And the heat in July?

July and August are hot here, so the ceremony takes place in late afternoon, in the shade of the plane trees, and the château's hall is air-conditioned. In between, the mirror pool is there for everyone.

When is the lavender in bloom?

From late June to mid-July, at its peak. The best-known fields lie around Gordes, Apt and Sault: a lovely outing for your guests who arrive early, or for photos of you two.
